Offered is a wonderful grouping of Civil War personal items belonging to Colonel Isaac Stevens Metcalf of the Ohio Home Guard. The grouping consists of Colonel Metcalf's' Civil War sash, insignia straps (Colonel), and sword knot. Each item is tagged with a "Citadel Museum" tracking number. The Metcalf family donated these items to the Citadel Museum long ago. A binder full of documentation, paperwork and provenance is included with the grouping. Colonel Metcalf was appointed Colonel of the Ohio Local Militia at the outbreak of the Civil War. He was also an engineer under general Sherman according to Citadel documentation. The Citadel dispersed the vast majority of their collection in 1989. A print out of the Museum Inventory Report documenting these three items belonging to Colonel Metcalf is included along with a typed family history of paperwork. All three items are in excellent condition. An outstanding grouping belonging to a Civil War Colonel.
